Description | ||
Say, tell, ask, and reply are the basic methods of verbal communication. Say can be abbreviated as an apostrophe ('). Ask is used for questions; note that say can become an ask if the message ends in a question mark. Tell is useful for talking to a specific person, but note that otherwise it is still the same as say and ask - everyone nearby can hear your message. Reply is simply a way to indicate that you are responding to someone's earlier question or statement. | ||
